Ash
Waechter - Creative Director
Upon Graduating from Tulane University in 1992,
Ash started his career at the Jordan, McGrath
Case & Taylor advertising agency in New York
City. Run by none other than the famed Jim Jordan,
JMC&T became a great foundation for Ash in
developing his eye for advertising and marketing
of products and services.
During that time at JMC&T, Ash had learned
a great deal about the business of advertising
and client costs and whims of the business.
He also received a good indoctrination of long
hours and low pay, which was quickly learned
the mantra of Madison Avenue. Ash worked in
the Media Department (a rather uncreative pursuit)
at JMC&T but always had his eye on the creative
end of advertising.
During this time in the summer of ‘94, Ash went
to night school at New York City’s renowned School
of Visual Arts. During these evening classes
in downtown Manhattan, Ash developed his copy
writing skills and visual presentation skills
which would eventually become quite beneficial
in a career that had yet to be invented—Web Design.
Before discovering Web Design, Ash had still
a few years making it through the advertising
world. Instead of continuing on Madison Avenue,
Ash answered a call from Dallas, Texas looking
for talented Media Planners. Having many friends
in Dallas (from his days at Tulane University
in New Orleans) Ash decided this would be a great
learning experience and a better environment
to pursue his creative pursuits.
After some time at Publicis Bloom Advertising
in Dallas, Ash took another leap of faith studied
at the Art Institute of Dallas and embarked on
career in Computer Animation. While skilled in
creating 3D
Photo real renderings and animations, Ash
quickly realized that creating computer games
was not for him.
After graduation, Ash landed a job at the Freeman
Companies creating system trade show booths.
This was 3D Design at its core. The skills learned
at the School of Visual Arts in News York City
and the technical skills that Ash learned at
Art Institutes if Dallas were really starting
to payoff.
During his time at Freeman Companies Ash was
involved in developing trade show exhibits and
show graphics. Ash was quickly promoted to more
serious work after impressing his superiors with
his excellent rendering skills. Within a year
Ash was recruited by ExhibitGroup Giltspur. At
E-G, Ash developed many tradeshow exhibits and
permanent structures. Ash was called upon frequently
to create renderings for other designers and
eventually move into creating 3D animations for
Multimedia Presentations.
During this time (as he had done in New York)
Ash was reading as many books as he could about
design, marketing and advertising. Books like
Confessions of Ad Man by David Ogilvy proved
to be invaluable in developing a website design
styles that converts a higher rate of customers.
Ash’s involvement with organizations and fraternities
help instill as sense of commitment, to see the
project through until the end. Ash is still
involved with his fraternity and feels a sense
of honor and dedication.
Ash’s private school background has also instilled
a sense of presentation and the importance of
always looking your best.
